For these positions, we seek outstanding and innovative scientists with established or emerging research programs and success in garnering extramural funding.

Candidates’ research must encompass one of the following research themes: (1) neuroscience and/or mechanistic studies in the perinatal period focused on either generation, specifically, the prenatal influences on children’s brain-behavior development or brain-behavior changes in parents-to-be or perinatal mental health; (2) implementation science that includes expertise or interest in women’s mental health, father and/or partner’s mental health, or broadly parent and child well-being in the transition to parenthood.

The Director of Intraoperative Neuromonitoring (IONM) will provide leadership and oversight for the intraoperative neuromonitoring program at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, ensuring excellence in clinical care, education, and research. This individual will be responsible for program development, quality assurance, and the implementation of best practices in IONM to support surgical teams in reducing the risk of neurological injury during procedures. The Director will work collaboratively with neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, otolaryngologists, anesthesiologists, and other stakeholders to optimize patient outcomes through advanced neuromonitoring techniques.

Dartmouth Health is looking for a Senior Clinical Neurophysiology and Research Scientist. This person will collaborate with a team of physicians and researchers to oversee and provide IONM and serve as a scientist to support clinical programs such as epilepsy and electrophysiological studies.

Overview:

  • Academic appointment at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College
  • CNIM licensure preferred
  • An established track record of related research publications and grant support is preferred.
Responsibilities:
  • Performs seizure monitoring, evoked potentials, quantitative EEG analysis, electrocorticography, electroanatomical/functional mapping, and multimodal data visualization for diagnosis and surgical planning.
  • Implements training and procedures while supervising usage within the neurological facilities.
  • Performs quality control audits of the facilities and creates reporting utilizing normative data, decision criteria, and statistical analysis.
  • Maintains and administers computer systems and software in relation to epilepsy, electrophysiological, and imaging databases.
  • Facilitates and participates in research studies and protocols related to the DHMC Comprehensive Epilepsy Program. Organizes interdisciplinary epilepsy related research projects and proposals.
  • Trains fellows, residents, medical students, nurses, and technicians in areas of electrophysiological instrumentation, computerized monitoring, safety, biophysics, etc.
Requirements:
  • PhD with experience in clinical neurophysiology and biomedical engineering.
  • Must be able to perform intraoperative monitoring.
  • Must be proficient with EEG instrumentation and computerized monitoring, evoked potentials, signal and image processing, data visualization, and statistical analysis.
  • Eligible to be registered as a Medical Technologist in New Hampshire

The newly created Geisinger Program Evaluation (GPE) team seeks one Associate Director and one Staff Scientist, each with expertise related to health economics or health services research, and especially research drawing causal inference using non-randomized methods. This is a great opportunity to oversee and lead rigorous, primarily non-randomized (or partially randomized) evaluations of programs, with impact on important health system decisions and patient outcomes, straddling industry and academia. Evaluations from members of GPE (which also includes the Behavioral Insights Team) are published/forthcoming in high-impact journals, including PNAS, Nature Human Behaviour, JAMA Network Open, and The Journal of Pediatrics. Both positions will be expected to lead study design, analysis (preferably using R), and reporting/dissemination of results to internal stakeholders (e.g., Geisinger leaders) as well as to academic audiences (e.g., at conferences and in academic publications). The Associate Director will lead and manage a team. Positions can be based in Danville, PA, or remote (with occasional travel to Danville) from another U.S. location for exceptional candidates. Major duties and responsibilities:
  • Assisting the GPE (Associate) Director in day-to-day operations and development of the GPE
  • Helping to recruit and supervise staff scientists and other personnel (Associate Director only)
  • Liaising, initiating, and coordinating execution of projects with internal and external stakeholders; this includes Geisinger groups such as clinical departments, the IRB, and the compliance, quality, and legal functions
  • Conducting literature searches and reviewing the literature to inform the team’s projects (Staff Scientist only)
  • Contributing to or leading manuscript drafting and submission for select evaluation studies (first-author opportunities available)
  • Participating in the design of interventions for evaluation and implementation at Geisinger
  • Participating in data management, analysis, visualization, and reporting to assess the effectiveness of Geisinger programs, including assessing their effects on patient and other outcomes and quantifying the associated costs and return on investment
  • Engaging in open science best practices (e.g., preregistration, preparing and sharing de-identified data and code)
  • Disseminating GPE findings at scientific conferences and to lay audiences (e.g., sharing findings with Geisinger leaders)

Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) invites applications for the position of Research Scientist II (equivalent to an academic associate professor) to join the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Research Institute (MAPRI). As part of this dynamic research department, you will design and implement cancer health services and cancer epidemiology-related research projects. Please note, this is not a basic science or bench science position. This is a full-time position based in our regional office located in Capitol Hill, Washington D.C. with a hybrid work model. This position requires going into the regional office at least twice per month on designated days, which will be set by the team.

Reporting to the Director of Research Science, the Research Scientist II will develop and lead independent research projects, seek and secure external funding (federal grants, foundations, and industry), and disseminate research findings through peer-reviewed journals and national scientific meetings. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape and advance cancer-related health services research while working collaboratively with physicians, researchers, and external partners.
