2023 Conference Submission Information

HCSRN 2023 will offer concurrent sessions for both panel presentations and oral abstracts. Panel presentations are designed to maximize value and to attract attendees from differing backgrounds. Topics may be scientific, methodological, operational, or anything else likely to draw a large, diverse audience. You may submit a panel presentation with the topic of your choosing and create your own panel participants.

Topic Areas

Abstract presentations focus on scientific research and findings and are submitted under the following topics:

  • Cancer
  • Chronic Conditions (Diabetes, Heart Failure, Hypertension, Obesity, etc.)
  • Mental Health (Mood disorders, Serious Mental Illness, Suicide Unrelated to Substance Use/Misuse)
  • Addiction Science/Substance Use (Suicide Related to Substance Use/Misuse)
  • Maternal, Child, and Family Health
  • Aging (End of Life, Cognitive Decline, etc.)
  • COVID19 and Other Vaccine-Related Conditions (HPV, Flu, etc.)
  • Genomics & Precision Medicine
  • Methods (Statistical, Study Design, Participant Recruitment, Natural Language Processing, etc.)

Deadlines and Procedures

  • Submissions will be accepted through Friday, October 7, 2022 11:59:59 pm ET
  • You may submit more than one panel presentation for review. However, each submission must be completed in full before a new submission can be started.
  • Acknowledgment of receipt of submission will be sent to the presenting author's email upon completion of submission.
  • The Conference Planning Committee reserves the right to accept or decline all submissions.

Online Submission

All abstracts and panel presentations must be submitted via the online submission system on the conference website.

Please carefully review your presentation prior to finalizing your submission. You will receive a confirmation email and see a confirmation message when you complete your submission.

Acceptance of Submissions

Compliance with all stated conditions including adherence to the deadline is required. Acknowledgment of receipt of submissions will be sent via email upon submission.

Individuals submitters agree that if their presentation is accepted, they will attend the conference and present as scheduled. If a change in the presenters’ ability to present occurs, the presenter is asked to contact the conference organizer immediately at [email protected].

Panel Presentation Formatting and Content Requirements

  • Panel submissions should be methodological, "how-to", or problem-solving.
  • Presentation titles are limited to 150 characters.
  • Titles should be entered in Title Case. Title case has a capital letter for the start of every significant word – where words such as “and”, “of”, “the” and “a” are not counted as significant. This is an Example of Title Case. Do not enter information in all capital letters.
  • The panel description is limited to 2500 characters and should include Panel Presentation Summary (Background), Presentation Summary (For each presentation), Key Objectives (List 2-3 key objectives which explain how the panel will deliver value to attendees) and Cohesion (Describe how separate parts of the panel interact to create a cohesive whole.)

Scientific Abstract Formatting and Content Requirements

  • Scientific Abstract titles are limited to 150 characters.
  • Titles should be entered in Title Case. Title case has a capital letter for the start of every significant word – where words such as “and”, “of”, “the” and “a” are not counted as significant. This is an Example of Title Case. Do not enter information in all capital letters.
  • Section headers (background, methods, results, conclusion) will be electronically formatted by conference organizers. You do not need to include these titles in your abstract.
  • The abstract text is limited to 1500 characters. Anything exceeding 1500 characters will be removed from the submission.
  • The Conference Planning Committee reserves the right to accept and determine the presentation format, or decline all abstracts. If your abstract is not accepted for an oral presentation, it may still be accepted for a poster presentation.
  • All accepted abstracts will be published in an online supplement publication selected by the Conference Planning Committee.

Publication

Accepted abstracts will be published in the HCSRN 2023 materials and as an open access online supplement . Authors consent to abstract publication in conference materials and as an open-access online supplement entitled Journal of Patient-Centered Research and Reviews.

Copyright

By submitting an abstract, authors and co-authors transfer any copyrights and grant permission to HCSRN 2023 and agree that the submitted abstract can be published in the conference materials and shared broadly. Abstracts will not be published or made public until one week prior to the start of the conference.

Disclaimer: Please be advised that abstracts accepted for oral, panel, or poster presentation at the HCSRN meeting will be published in the Journal of Patient-Centered Research and Reviews. Some journals/conferences may have stipulations that you cannot submit the same abstracts (title, authors and order, all content the same) that were submitted/accepted/published elsewhere (i.e. the HCSRN meeting and Journal of Patient-Centered Research and Reviews). For the HCSRN conference, you can submit findings that have been submitted/accepted/published elsewhere.
